iBerry Auxus Linea L1 Review

iBerry Auxus Linea L1 review - the killer of all competitors under Rs. 8000/-

Hi all this is a great pleasure to me for giving the very first and complete hands on review of iBerry Auxus Linea L1 on the web world. This is my first review of phone and I am trying to provide more and more detailed review whatever I can. So hope this will help to you all my friends.

The newly launched Auxus Linea L1 from iBerry is the first handset launched by iBerry which is under price of Rs.7990/- (earlier it was Rs.6990/-). It runs KitKat 4.4.2 out of the box which can be further upgradable via OTA as per iBerry website. The handset has 4.5 inch screen resolution with 480x854 pixels, powered by MediaTek MT6582 1.3GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM.

The iBerry has launched this phone in competition with Micromax Unite 2 A106, Moto E, XOLO Q600s, Lava Iris X1. iBerry Auxus Linea L1 is a dual SIM handset in which SIM 1 supports normal SIM and SIM 2 support a micro SIM. There is a micro SD card slot too.

You can see Specification Comparison Chart here.

Box Contents: when we open the box we will found the following items.
Handset Auxus Linea L1, Battery 2000 mAh, Data Cable, Travel Charger of 2Ah, Earphone with buds, Warranty Card, User Guide. The SAR Value is not mentioned anywhere on box or handset, but on eBay page its 0.85 W/kg @1g (body).

The iBerry Auxus Linea L1 is just like a copy of Samsung Galaxy S5. The build quality and finish is good. The back cover design have very good grip and comfortable to hold. It have matte finish and dotted texture on back cover for proper handling.

The iBerry Auxus Linea L1 weight with battery is 129 grams which gives a great feel while holding in hand, length is 137 mm, width is 70 mm and thickness is just 9.9 mm. The Mic and Micro USB port are on bottom side and the 3.5mm audio jack is placed on the top. The power button is placed on the right side and volume rocker is placed on the left side. Speaker is at back side on lower right hand side.

The iBerry Auxus Linea L1 have Accelerometer, Proximity, Light and Gravity sensors. There is no LED notification.
The iBerry Auxus Linea L1 have 4.5 Inch IPS capacitive touchscreen with 480x854 pixels based on OGS technology and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Color reproduction and viewing angles are good. Touch is very smooth and responsive. User interference is lag free.

Performance wise KitKat works like charm with MediaTek MT6582 1.3GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM. Performance benchmarks scores can be seen here. The Antutu score is more then Samsung Galaxy S3 and near about Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Performance wise its best among all in this price range.

The iBerry Auxus Linea L1 have 1GB RAM, after first start-up the free RAM is 723MB which is too good. It has 4GB internal storage which can be extended via SD Card up to 64 GB. Out of the internal 4GB storage user get only 2.49 GB, which can be used as memory for files or for apps installation. The plus point is that we can install too many apps without space problem and the apps can be moved to external SD card also.

Update: Hello friends, after using the iBerry Auxus Linea L1 for a week I have observed some issues which I want to share with you all. May be one of you are facing the same.

As mentioned on the official website Apps on SD Card is supported, but in actual applications could not be moved to SD Card. There is no option in app info tab, so we have only 2.49GB space for apps. If you are a gamer then you can’t move app data to SD Card. Have tries AppMgr III, but it shows the below massage. If its software problem an OS update could fix this.

The iBerry Auxus Linea L1 has 2 cameras. The main/rear camera is 5MP with LED flash and Auto Focus and the front camera is 2MP with fixed focus. The rear camera is average and can shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. Flashlight is not working while recording video, its illumination is very low. The phone can record and play both HD (1280*720) and FHD (1920*1080) videos without any lag or issue. The sound is loud and clear with and without headphone.

3G: 3G not available on both SIM cards as mentioned on the website, you can use 3G in first SIM only. There is no provision to shift from one SIM to other for 3G. The second SIM support only 2G. The Linea L1 is also having some network problem, because it’s not showing full towers as shown in below picture. The same SIM card is showing full network on my other phone.

Bluetooth: It’s working normal for image and video transfer, but when I tried to transfer software files (.apk files) the Bluetooth is not sending or receiving any file. Unable to get apk files. It May be software of hardware problem, if its software problem an OS update could fix this.

Wi-Fi work well. WiFi tethering works well. As mentioned on the official website WiFi Direct and Printer features are supported. There is no apps installed by company, you have to use some application for that like WiFi File Transfer, Cloud Printing etc. from play store. I have tried SuperBeam and it works.

GPS lock is slow and GPS does not work indoors. Finally GPS is not working at all. Earlier I mentioned it’s very slow, at that time I have used AGPS with GPS, but when I tried to use only GPS it’s not working. Even it’s not showing any satellite signal or connection after one hour. I have tried a lot of apps like GPS test, AndroiTS GPS, GPS Status etc. but all fails. This clearly shows that GPS have some hardware or software problem.

Some applications are terminating automatically like Maps. It may be software or OS problem can be resolved by updating both.

Company has not installed much more applications in the phone. Even Gmail, Hangout, Google+, YouTube, Notepad, Opera Mini and Kingsoft Office are absent. Below picture showing the default apps preinstalled by iBerry:

The read/write speed on internal memory is 158.8/36.4 MB/s with SD Tools.

Conclusion
As iBerry is not as popular as compare to other brands like Micromax, Lava, Xolo, Moto etc. but the iBerry Auxus Linea L1 is one who can defiantly compete with the said brands. Its performance is great or best in all. Camera is average but looking at price point this is good. IPS Display is very good and with Gorilla Glass Protection it is best amongst all. The complete unit is packed by a very good design team because the phone have less overall margins, which helped in less overall size without display size compromise. Below is a size comparison with Micromax Unite 2 A106. Best for gamers.

This phone may not fulfill all requirements of all users but at this price I think is very good. Performance wise it can only be compared with Unit 2 A106, except this rest all are having 2/3 performance.
As I have not played any game on this but looking at Antutu score I hope it will play all heavy games without any problem or lag.

When we check with CPU-Z, This phone is with root access from company with warranty. So this is also good for some users. But when I tried to access the root folder it says "root access is not available". See below picture:

As this phone was launched at a price Rs.6990/- on eBay.in with promotion period, now it is available at Rs.7990/- on eBay.in

So I suggest before buying check the other sites also, may be you will get it cheaper as compare to eBay.in

Its available at lower price on olx.com also.

Hope that this review will help you my friends and I will update this with more details in coming days.

  1. I am using this phone, the call volume on earpiece is very low compared to rest. I found call volume on micromax unite 2 excellent and soothing. Even audio on headphone is very low always have to keep volume full. Supplied headphones are crap just throw them in bin. Rest is Okayish, I will recommend micromax unite 2.
